Dear corporate please offer another option to customers that don't have a working advantage card number. Did you realize most people don't have one that's functioning nor correctly connected. As a cashier I am finding that most customers do not have their number correctly set up or never attached any information to their cards. I'm tired of getting hara-ssed over the coin shortage. Even though you advertise it like 6 times in 15 minutes customers go wtf? I don't get change upon check out. In a society that's over bombarded by advertisements they don't realize it until they do not get change.
If they don't have a personal shopper card, give them a new one. If its not correctly connected or registered, they can register it at the store, online or by calling the 1-800 number. While the change issue is an inconvenience, I don't think people understand how much change a store does though in a week. I would say a stores previously went though $2k-$7k in rolled change a week, if the bank isn't able to provide any, what options would be available for change? Hell, with thinking about it, I would think most change is returned to the bank with vending machines, coin counting services (both which people are not really using, since they are not out and about like before)
People are too disconnected to understand everything is connected, they can't look past their little lives to understand they are part of a HUGE environment/community. Turn it around on the customer, "OH you don't have exact change, don't you know there is a change shortage". In reality, grocery stores are one of the 1st places to be hit by this issue, since they have HUGE cash volume.
Just as a reference to someone who is part of the team at my kroger who manages accounting and cash in/out, we just got our first change delivery in about 3 months today. We have been recycling change since end of may. When customers get bad we literally tell them that we haven't gotten a shipment since end of may. mind you- we got like a box of pennies dimes and quarters which is not enough, but it does help us keep the uscans functioning with the software they have which doesn't allow auto-rounding up with cash to avoid change (probs due to laziness on corporate)
