I recently started getting double garnished. So what I mean is 50% of my check has been taken away now instead of 25%
Has this happened to anybody? I thought this was illegal but apparently not. If anyone has a phone number I can call for questions that would be great!
I am assuming you owe money to an outside company or companies, If you owe something to a credit company and/or another company they can take what they, not you, feel is an appropriate amount being as it is two separate entities.
If it is Union Due Arrears, they can take out what is needed. Although when they take out arrears it's usually once per week.

I don't really feel sorry for individuals that don't pay their bills. If your being garnished, you most likely didn't try to pay the fund back (as they would have most likely setup a payment plan with you). If your being garnished, you had ample time to know it would have happening sooner then later, court cases give multiple notices of the action. Just think being double garnished just means you will be debit free sooner...lol
I should add that I'm from Washington state (as we know laws are different in every state) and also, I'm not worried if you people care or not lmao it was a question because I work for kroger and this a forum for that. I am mainly on the fence on what I should do because I live in Seattle and It's really expensive to live here. I'm wondering if I should just get a second job and work less hours or ride this thing out and pay off my debt faster like someone else said lol I was kinda hoping someone has dealt with this before and could offer advice.

Don't mind those dolts, they've got opinions on everything. Nobody ever listens to them, and neither should you.
Me? I would look up the laws on this kind of activity in your state. Maybe get some free legal / financial assistance, if you qualify on basis of income----and, being you're in retail, you most likely do.
Bad things happen to good people all the time, and through no character fault of their own. Best of luck. Let us know what happens.

I don't know your state laws, but your are going to be paying them funds back in some way. Get a 2nd job and just tough it out until your paid up.....

What are the garnishments for? Child support, unpaid credit debt, student loans or IRS debts?
Generally, the limit is 25% but there are exceptions that allow more. Just from gleaning the site below, they can garnish up to 50% for child support.
Back in the day I used to work for MasterCard and Visa for 7 years. Did collections and two years investigating fraud for Citibank. This sounds like a separate company garnishing another 25 percent and unless the credit laws have changed since I was in the business, it is totally legal.

Sounds like the original author has issues paying their bills, not really feeling any pity.

Looks like you're a dick weed, not really seeing why you're alive

You came to the wrong forum my man. Most of the people here are pillow biters, sock pissers, or in general smell like ASS. Best to go elsewhere to get answers.
Okay so I called the debt collectors and they are receiving my money. I also am paying all my bills lmao keep hating! Its okay. I can take it lol I also called my garnishment processor and she said there was an error in the system. She's sending me a portion of my money back, which I didn't ask for! I was fine paying off my debt faster. My debt is old court fines. I used to be a heroin addict years ago but I have turned my life around. I had 22,000 in court fines and I'm down to 9,000. Life is good today! I am sober, have my bills paid, and don't have the rona!

Ohhh, that's wonderful! God bless, so happy for you.
Even so....we both know there's still gonna be haters with nothing better to do than hate. Expect that dick lick IUD___unknown to come back and run his snack hatch some more. lol, some people, man
Each state is different in legal laws towards garnished salaries. If you fail to pay your debtors they will court order you to pay them back through your salary. I went to someone in high school. She went on a massive spending spree and owes a **** load of money to credit card companies. She earns and has earned minimum wage most of her life and never bothered to strive for higher education nor do anything with her self. The past five years she has had her salaries garnished due to failure of paying bills not to mention the horrendous interest attached to the missed payments. She'll be in debt until she dies at this point. I personally also know some homeless people who are so high in debt they chose to be homeless so they did not have to pay their debtors. You know you could get a second job.
