Knowing what you know now or, if you've been in a real long time, after all the changes you've seen?

Not sure. It's not for everyone that much I can tell you. All the "happy employee faces in the "picture perfect" stores are staged. The smiles are forced. What I'm basically saying is, it's what you make of it. I've been with Kroger for 2-3 years now but I k ow how to make things work without getting in trouble or going against store policy.

I've worked there for over 30 years.  The reason I've stayed is because it's the first job I've had where I didn't dread going into work.  Well, maybe not at first.  I started out as a bagger and then became a cashier.  Dealing with one customer after another was not for me.  So as soon as a spot opened up I moved to another department.  I still have to deal with customers but not like people on the front end do.  I also have the advantage of being able to hide if I see one that has a reputation for being a pain in the neck.

You go back to the good dope days, lol.. went to hs with a guy who started at Kroger then; believe he's still with the company, that's been almost 38 years. I remember in the mid 80s he was damn near killing himself working all the OT he could get----100 plus hrs a week! Sure won't let you do that now, I guess.

Only if your job is gathering evidence against the company.

Kroger is an insane criminal organization.  Don't have to do with them.  Secrecy.  Control.  That's all.

That's every organization and person of power today. Facebook in the fking devil's playground. They will swiftly delete anything you post of public safety concerns and / or personal opinions they don't like, and ban you too.

Zuckerberg is 100% in league with this evil new world order empire currently running the USA, along with all the One Percenters. Kroger, Walmart, Target, etc.------they all dine at the same table.

It's a job. From what I was told, it USED to be a good company to work for. You were treated well, like family. You were recognized ad an individual and hard work was rewarded. If you were struggling with service, one on one time to help was set aside just for you. Back then, yes I would recommend working for Kroger.

Now: your "family" backstabs and constantly tries to one up you, management sets you up to fail and theres not a d@mn thing you can do about it if you want to keep your job. Hard work is HARDLY EVER recognized, and if it is, the ONLY reward is MORE work. No help is given or offered, and if you are struggling with service you are left to 'figure it out yourself.' Among other things.

Would I recommend now? No.

Let's take an even keel on this.

Is Kroger a a terrible place to work?

Yes.

Right now?  Yeah, ****ing terrible.  I mean, **** crap, it's ****ing terrible.

But in the last decade?  Yeah.  Terrible ten years ago too.

Two decades?  Also yes, but could have bought a house with that.

Three decades?  You ain't got no plutonium.  Arab Spring ****ed all that up.

Thanks Obama.

Your answer is 'no'. Kroger barely provides a living wage and given its poor internal conditions barely cares about its workers.

The executives live on six-figure salaries even in Covid times while the workers at the store have to work two jobs and be on WiC just to take care of their children.

This is a heartless and soulless corporation no matter what their PR tries to tell the public.

The way I see the so-called homeless live these days, so would I!

Tax free hand-out money for ZERO amount of physical effort.
