Kroger store managers/co-managers: I have a question for you:

I know this forum is mostly written and read by ordinary store employees / clerks / cashiers. etc.  If there are any real Kroger store managers or co-managers that read this, I have an honest question.......just from curiosity.   I hear the announcements very frequently on our store intercom "Management/ Manager, you have a call holding on 101"  or "Can a manager please pick up on line one?" .

My question is.... what kinds of calls do you deal with  mostly.......... what kinds of questions/complaints/situations are you actually getting?  Give us some examples of what people are calling about. Are they employees calling in sick? Someone complaining we were out of a particular product?  Somebody needing a raincheck?  An employee was rude to you?  Are they asking if Kroger is hiring?   I hear these pages for managers all day long and my idle curiosity is aroused.............why do so many people call and need to bother a manager? I bet it isn't that important most of the time ?

Just wondering........thanks for all input.   I figure this thread will be hijacked by trolls but I figured it was worth asking anyway.

Mostly people calling in sick or calling to say they will be late.  Also, calls being escalated to a "manager."  Coorporate usually calls the store managers cell phone if they want something or send out an email.

I am a co manager and you guessed it pretty much right. Customer complaints, associate call ins, vendors, etc. the majority of the calls could be handled by a front end supervisor or a supervisor in the department the customer is calling about but they want to talk to a manager instead.

True, but most Department Leaders are completely fine with a Co-Manager taking the calls.  Remember, the company only see Department Leaders as a higher ranting clerk.  Department Leaders are only "elevated" when a Co-Manager/Store Manager/High Up, want simply don't want to do something or want someone to cover for them.  A Department Leader is basically told what to do at all time and then "given" control (MOD) when the Co-Manager/Store Manager want to be off...etc

This is exactly what I've been talking about. This goat **** really thinks he knows more than anyone else. The post asked a question of store management-------which he clearly is not, but he jumped in any way. What a loser.

Well as a Department Head I was left in charge at the Store more times then I can count and was forced to act as de-facto "Management".  I bet your position has something to do with Grocery, Receiver? I always like how people in these positions always where the most outspoken, but yet didn't know what was going on in the store.

They should just add to the menu to get the Manager dial 2151. Because the Managers are always in their office playing Fartnite and they get pissed when Corporate calls because it interrupts their game.

I am in the Local 1996 area-a front end employee. I have heard stories from time to time that a spouse will tell someone "it me or Kroger!"-due to the hours managers have to work. I just don't think it's worth it to pursue a career here if you are younger (I am of Social Security age.)
