The new policy for friendliness is a joke and like being in grade school... next step is a hall pass to use the restroom. What they want us to say sounds like a robot. Moreover the policy can be used by less ethical management to get rid of associates they don't like or want. Kroger obviously does not trust their associates in regard to taking care of customers. Many rude and inconsiderate customers make it hard to be friendly at all times. Moreover the amount of theft, damages, and waste by customers seen every day makes it impossible to be friendly, I have lost all faith in people.
Sometimes corporate sends a variation on a script. We are required to recite it while smiling and maintaining eye contact no matter how many customers are talking to us trying to get served first even if we are operating machinery so just say you are sorry but you must do everything first so make the manager who is hiding be standing there
and the contradictions pile up until the secret shopper and the mean crazies go away. Then the script can be forgotten.

Us customers are entitled to put things like milk and stuff in the freezer if the dairy is too far away. Were entitled to test eat fruit and open a soda while shopping and leave the can on the shelf. Were also entitled to not pick items off the floor that fall leaving it there or kicking it u dear the shelf is fine and safe. Its a new year and its never been a more perfect time to VALUE US!! The customer is always right!
