i've talked to metlife and division hr about paid leave for surgery. i'm gonna use seven PTO days the first week of my leave so i will only have five left and should get STD pay (short-term disability) beginning the eighth day. but the hr person said i only have to use five of my PTO days. but on my metlife packet it says i have to use all but five of my PTO days. this five or seven day thing is a little confusing. if i dont have to use more than five i might possibly just want to use five, but if i'm gonna lose two extra days (i have twelve total days left of PTO) then i want to go ahead and take those as well. why is it hard for me to pin down correct info?
It's hard because it's supposed to be hard, as nobody wants to pay for PTO let alone short term disability. Whichever one you do, they say the other one is correct and that you are boned.
