Customers your days of being able to walk up to the register with zero wait is over. Kroger is short staffing us more than usual and continues to slash hours repeatedly. This is coming from corporate as every store and employee is bit-ching about it. We're barely running half skeleton crew as it is. And would the senior citizens that despise self check stop bi-tching about it each fu-cken time you come through. We know we're short staffed you don't have to rudely chew our ears off over it then be an a$$ about it. I wouldn't mind but every fu-cken time you come through every fuc-ken time. Come one By now you should have a brain and god gave you one to use it. It's going to be even worse at night. No cashier after 8 pm like it or not. If you want one just fuc-ken request politely don't be an @$$ about it.

Some stores do not have enough people to even fill the limited hours budgeted.

Listen here associate, You need to VALUE US!!! Us customers work semi hard then others and when we need speedy checkouts its YOUR job to make it happen. After all, we help contribute to those huge checks you get weekly! So start asking yourself what you can do to satisfy US and make it happen.

I can relate my store us very short staffed and this doesn't make the customer experience a good one. Cashiers have to check out and bag as we never have enough baggers. The front end is always short because they pull our people for other departments that are short.

Possible solution: eliminate bonuses for upper management and store management. Give them to us...who actually make the bonuses for you.

Get rid of those stupid gimmicks that dont work that you pay for. Get rid of those stupid Fisher price wanna be kroger characters. They were NEVER needed in the first place.

Hell, if you had a decision to get unemployment or work, what would you do? Yes, there are many hardworking people, but there are a larger number of people taking the "easy" way out until they can't any longer. Yes, hours are always being cut or reallocated, but part of the issue is hot having the volume of applications to actually get a higher qualify worker. Hell, as your store stopped hiring? With there are so many people without jobs, why haven't they applied?
OH.....its all a cycle, remember when Walmart never had more then 1 cashier open? Didn't they high more cashiers? The company will be going the same thing sooner then later....at some point all the Pickup orders will be shipped in and all those Associates picking will be in other positions.

Our overnight stocking teams hours got slashed horrendously, we only have half a crew and one of our part timers who was getting 40 hours a week and wants the hours got cut to 15 despite the fact that we really need them. We faced a double truck with 3 people on Monday night.

You have my sympathy.  I noticed that too.  I rarely see senior citizens in the self-checkout process.

My store is literally having to rotate through workers on a monthly basis because so many are quitting because of slashed hours and low pay. Kroger is going to have to wake up and realize the issues they're having before they've chewed through the entire workforce in their area.

Right now they I'm sure everything is getting blamed on "COVID"...when the issues might be 25% COVID and 75% the actual job. It will be interesting to see what happens when the additional $300 unemployment ends.

I have a question. We are a union store. We have two ASM's. Isn't it against union rules for salaried management to be doing hourly work. One of our ASM's works their ass off doing hourly stuff (unloading trucks, stocking, etc.) because we aren't given enough hours.

On another note, I heard they have ASM training classes one after another because ASM's are leaving the company in droves. The new ones are quitting in less than a month.

Off the top of my head, I think there's usually something in the union contract that says that management can't like steal employee hours which would be what they're doing
