It's a crap contract and I'm voting No also!!! Full time clerks will only get 1.60 over the span of the contract nothing but a smack to my face as well others.

I briefly talked to my shop steward about the contract she said "it's a bad contract"......what is appalling to me is that certain job classifications can have their hourly pay REDUCED if they don't average a certain number of hours per week. It doesn't make sense a new hire can come in at $12/hr when people working there have to wairt 3 years to get to $10.75/hr (if you are a courtesy clerk.)
Original poster here: In further conversation with my shop steward, she said that she doesn't think the contract will pass. Then Kroger will try to offer some asinine $500 or so "bonus"-she sad sad part about it is that some in our store will think it is like $5000 and accept the money.

The solution is simple: either they work OT to get the extra cash or just do the bare minimum. No more, no less. That is what I did when I was a cc.

Nah working more is definitely not the solution but doing the bare minimum is a good start.
Original poster here: I went to the store down the street on Friday that was a voting location near my house. The two Union reps said we should have results either Friday or early Saturday. If the contract fails, I wonder what the next step is-anyone know?
I retired from Kroger two years ago in the Cincinnati/Dayton area with 32 years because I could see that Kroger is determined to change things where it does not make sense. I do not miss working. Kroger is not like when I started and the union I swear is in Krogers pocket. I voted no in my last contract about a year before I retired that was not a good contract again but like always somehow it passed. The union forced that contract down our throats did not tell us that they were having meetings with Kroger like before just came into the store and said we have a good contract vote yes. that confirmed my feeling that my union was in Krogers pocket. From what I have been told by other employees when I shop at Kroger it is worse than ever. There is more long term employees retiring since I retired two years ago. If they are close to 65 employees are retiring. Of course Kroger wants that. They do not care about the long term employees who were loyal to them. Kroger wants to be Walmart. Kroger needs to get a new CEO I think.

I'm sure the Union isn't in the companies pocket, but Union Leadership knows better then to bite the hand that is feeding it. If there was a strike, what is to say it would ever end? Union Leadership is just making sure their paycheck is there for another 4-5 years. Yes, they might get a small increase in pay, but in reality they are not really fighting for anything, they are just trying to get what other retailers are offering everyone else.
It's the same for us in Memphis. .35 cents a year every for 4 years. Plus they are going to increase our insurance every year. 2nd year insurance increases by $2.00. So we our losing money not making any.

Doesn't really matter. The Union doesn't really do **** for you when needed.
Right. Bagging is for cashiers, the furious elderly, SCO customers, and Instacarters.
Courtesy clerks are for rambling the aisles while Quevision blows up, pushing carts, late night go-backs, picking up slack from maintenance, and not really anything else.
Any non-tarded 18 year old can work a deep fryer for as much as as a Kroger manager.
And if they have a car, they can gig-economy until they are too tired to drive.
We are at the point where Kroger can only hire children and severely defective adults. It would be that much more hilarious if I could get my alcoholism in order.
I'm glad someone said "no". I highly feel we should strike. I'm fine financially. I could penny pinch my nest egg for 4-5 years and be okay. Others well that's on them. The union needs to do a hell of a lot more than a fifty fu-cken cent pay raise. Especially when they're hiring in people at more than ten cents above minimum. Most new hires in my store are getting journeyman pay but not classified as joruneyman.
State minimum in my area is $15/hr. Jrnyman cashiers earn $21/hr. They need to do better than fifty cent pay raises every six months. That's asinine. Just make sure they're not taking away additional rights and things we fought for to get better pay. We should not have to loose rights or holidays to gain more pay.
