I am starting to get pissed off now. For the longest time I have set my availability to anywhere between the hours of 8-7. The schedule writer has had no problem and neither has management with my availability. They even said that time frame works out great. Better than my old availability. It was put into the computer and finalized.
But for 3-4 weeks in a row, they decided to change my availability without checking with me. I have it set like that for reason. I told them time and time again and they say "ok we'll fix it. Come in like normal." Well, EACH and EVERY time, they screw it up. They did it AGAIN this week. So I have decided just to come in on my reg availability and work it. Like today was a 12-9pm. Eight hour shift with an hour lunch. Well, I am working a 10-7 shift. Still 8 hours. Maybe when they see me working my availability and ONLY my availability theyll get it. Maybe.

What you NEED to do is talk to your schedule writer and manager. Somewhere along there is a miscommunication. To avoid trouble that you will be in if you "make your own schedule" talk to both. Even the assistant store director. Because if you told Marty Managet and he didnt tell Arnie Assistant, then Arnie Assidtant isnt going to know why you are leaving earlier than scheduled. That is why you must tell both store director AND assistant director.

Are you full time? cause if so there is no such thing as a set schedule.
Not full time, but I never had an issue setting my availability. We just hired a bunch of new people, why not put them on the later shifts and let me stay on mine? Either way, in STILL working my availability. For example, this Mon coming I am scheduled 2-9:30. Instead I am going to clock in and work an 11-7
The issue is, are the new hires under 18? Special needs etc? If so then you might HAVE to work on your availability just a bit. Is there a reason you can't work (won't work) that late?
I wish I could make my own schedule...you must be privileged.

I was told if youre full time you really need to have a open schedule. Funny though sone people have set full time schedules but yea Id definitely do what your doing and come in when you said you could

Wrong. They dont need to do ****. If your just some normal peon associate youll work what the store needs you to work. Youre a nobody and can be easily replaced.
They do need to value long term employees. And No, I WILL NOT work beyond my availability. I will, however, work the same amount of daily hours scheduled. For example, if they mistakenly schedule me a 1pm-9pm shift, I will work instead, a 10-7 shift. Same amount of hours including the same lunch time.
Umm...if the hired special needs or people under the age of 18, then they may NOT be able to work later shifts. This is where YOU come in. Unless you plan on telling your fellow employees that they are going to have to stop what they are doing to do whatever tasks you are assigned to do because you left (helping customers get items, cleaning spills, or whatever else). I can tell you this WILL NOT go over well.

And you will get a write. You dont make the rules associate WE DO. Know your place.
