Write-ups

So this might sound like a dumb question, but this is my first job and I haven't learned this yet. I've heard about write-ups, but I don't know what all they entail, specifically who can issue them and what happens to you if you get written up? For context I am a CC on the FE

In most situations only STR MGMT can do write up. If a Front End Supervisor/Front End Manager talks to you about something its more verbal and they may write it down, indicating they had the chat. Most minor situations nothing will happen, if you keep doing it, then they might do some type of "coaching". I wouldn't worry about a write up, in reality everyone issues will happen. Just pay for anything you eat/take from the store, if your not on break be where your assigned to be and just try to be nice to customers. After a few STR MGMT write ups, you get suspended for 1-5 days (but could be different in your area).

If you feel you did nothing wrong dont sign it. You can refuse to sign it and they cant say or do **** about it.

Depending on the offence it usually occurs like this:

1. Verbal warning. (you may have to sign stating you understand the verbal.) The amounts of verbal depends on your management.

2. Write-up. This is the next step after verbal warning(s) if you feelnypuve done nothing wrong, don't sign and ask for union rep (if you are a union store) to help out. (NOTE: a written warning is STILL valid EVEN IF you dont sign. Signing means you have acknowledged it and understand it. If you don't sign, all they do is put a refusal to sign note on it.) Write ups last 3-6 months depending on your union contract and district. Then they "go-away"
(Lie dormant in your employee file)

3. Suspension. After 3 or more write-ups you may get suspended for 1-3 days (or more depending on the severity of the situation). Suspensions are close to termination. Suspensions DO NOT go away. EVER. (Depending on your union contract or location).

*sometimes on extreme situations, they will bypass verbal, write-ups, and head straight into suspension. But this is ONLY for EXTREME situations.

**rarely they will suspend pending termination. This means you are suspended until they get your termination papers ready, or worse suspend you indefinately. This is done solely to prevent you from collecting unemployment. You are still "employed" but suspended with no definite end. This is THE WORST kind of suspension . You must have committed an EXTREME.VIOLATION of company policy fornthem.to go this far.
