So I'm a cashier and my office heads are lazy and for the last 3 weeks had been letting new cashiers use my number instead of taking 2 minutes out of their day to make them new ones. Even if I wasn't working that day. I opened up from being off for 2 days and my number was still logged on a different register. Manager yelled at me for having the worst produce numbers in the district. I said well if the incompetent department heads gave my number to 20 different new people it's not going to be good. He said no excuses I need better numbers. So those lazy department heads got me in trouble. So what happens if a newbie steals money under my number what then?

Try changing your password and not telling anyone. Idk how to change it, but if you could figure that out, then they couldn't log you in for anyone else
Yes, change your password and not worry about it. On touchscreens I believe there is a "change password" button just before you selected "SignOn", after your password is entered. With keyboards you just entered your number, password and then hit override before selecting the "SignOn" button.
It is against company policy to allow the sharing of cashier numbers. I would file an ethics report. Asap. File union grievance as well. The prior manager did this b.s. at my store and an ethics report ended it. He kept wanting people share cashier numbers. None of them went through the training course. Most you can do for your protection is to daily change your passcode and not share it. Or hrly if need be. If manager harasses you then tell them no and be firm. If the threaten you with write ups you can challenge it.
Do not share your cashiering numbers. If someone makes a mistake on your numbers the owner is at fault. I have had to file a couple union grievances in the past for this b.s. and an ethics report ended it.
Is there someone you know who can change it for you? If not then I would remind them that you : are not permitted, by company policy allowed to let another co-worker use your password. EVEN IF the employee is new.
And that you WILL NOT take ANY responsability if they continue to use your password.
However, it could be a set up. Someone may be setting you up to be fired.
But if an error occurs when they help themselves to your password while you are off duty, you can politely offer to shred up any write up they try to issue you, saying you were off duty at that time.
I looked at the screen and even asked a coworker about changing the password. The option has been removed from our touchscreen...
That is weird...Are you sure? On the Sign-In Screen "Enter Operator Number", Enter, "Enter Password", there should be a button that appears on the bottom area that indicated "Change Password". I wouldn't call it a "ethics" violation, but I would def. start voicing my displeasure. If anything just say something to a Asst. Store Manager indicating you take no responsibility for the number with so many people using it. If anything indicate "Asset Protections" you don't feel would like such a wide variety of people knowing your number.

Our systems are totally messed up. Buttons randomly disappear or move, you have to hit total 2 or 3 times for the EFT button to show because where it should be is an empty void till you total it several times ...

Sounds like someone needs to reboot the registers. I'm sure they didn't think about the computers at some store when rolling out touch screens. While touchscreens are "easier" to use (don't have to remember codes or "functions"), they take a lot more computing power.
As I stated before sharing of numbers is not allowed. File an ethics report asap to protect your @$$. If your union rep is a flake you can call and ask for someone else. I've done that a few times when our rep was refusing to respond. Any error or oops someone else makes is on you. Don't let them harass you into sharing your number. File an ethics report asap. Hell if you want me to do one for you I'll do it. Just need store number and your name unless you want me to call you joe dane. It takes like 5 min to fill on out. You can file without name but i would highly suggest you to file with name to protect your self.
