FES Requirements
Permalink

Does anyone know what the requirements are to be a FES? I am 17 and technically a bagger, but I cashier and do U-scan and know pretty much everything there is to know about the front end except service desk. I was talking with one of my FES who is going to suggest me to do it because we are about to lose 3 out of 7 that we have (one of whom has only FESed once)! Am I eligible? I know some of ours haven't done service desk, and we have one who is 18, so I feel like its pretty likely? And also, is there a pay raise associated with the position?

fes isn't that difficult.

Learn to cashier and be good at it.

Learn service center how to's and be good at it.

Send employees on breaks and lunches.

Manage customer service issues or inquiries as they occur. With a customer first attitude. Some customers will be trying trust me.

Always try to have an up-beat positive attitude with customer first in mind. The hardest part is sucking up to the shi-tty customers. Other wise it's pretty easy. You do not get more pay but if you want to move up in the business world do a leadership position for 6-12 months then move on. In kroger the only steady 40 hr a week positions are leads or those willing to work any shift any time for hrs. Other wise you're on reduced hrs.

You have to be 18 to be able to sell smokes/alcohol. When I was being considered for FES I was told that it doesn't come with any type of raise as you're on the front end pay scale and will still be classified as "Front End Clerk". As long as your knowledgeable about the way things work and the other employees trust you then there shouldn't be a problem, other than the age issue.

Best of luck. FES can be stressful.
