Anyone else's starbucks and deli have staffing issues? They hire people but they don't want to work. Even after kroger's hiring event our starbucks is only open for the duration of one shift or how ever many people that want to work for that day. And the deli keeps having to close at like 230 pm because of the 5 am opener is finished and no closer was scheduled or they called out.
In the past kroger use to be all up in arms if someone called out in starbucks due to the contract kroger has with starbucks. Now I guess that doesn't matter.
"Staffing" issues have been the excuse for the last year, when previously it wasn't allowed to be an excuse. In reality, with everyone paying a little more, people don't have to work multiple jobs to support themselves, or some type of government assistance is also helping. Big business actually needs to open their eyes and see that the previous generation left the job market with COVID and the labor pool is smaller. In reality, GIG jobs are helping and also cutting off companies worker base.
Expect to see "Service Department" with new hours as the norm, service counters closing at 5 or 6pm in the future. While there is a contract with Starbucks, I'm sure they have the same issue.
We had been having that problem with Starbucks too, but due to the contract we were about to get fined by Starbucks I guess. So they are pulling some of the best people from our skeleton crew on the front end to help out.
