My store is loosing staff at an alarming rate.

Title says it all. My store can't seem to hold onto staff for more than a few months at best at best. Kroger sucks but my store really, really, really sucks. I'd transfer out but where? I've worked at multiple stores in my area and it's all the same bull sh-it.

Kroger doesn't give more than minimum wage and it's not the most desirable job but you need to work for income.

There really isn't too much that can really be done. How can you make the job more fun? Even if you pay more, would it really change anything? The most simple solution is to hire more people and not overwork anyone, if they feel right now it should only take 2 people, then have 3 people do the job. Another part of the job is all the "processes", how difficult is it really to stock a shelf?

we need to cut hours from the departments and hire more coordinators to walk around and tell us what's wrong. because lord knows we don't have enough overpaid people walking around the stores with their arms crossed getting in the way.

Apparently schools don't teach the difference between lose, loss, lost, and loose anymore.

No, the schools are now more interested in confusing the kids about "gender" and the "correct" Woke meaning and proper application of pronouns ----  he, she, his, her, hers, its, they, theirs.......  The world is descending into total insanity.

There are 3 stores in my town (were 4 but 1 closed die to out of control theft). They all are horribly understaffed and have 'NEED HELP!' signs everywhere.

Walmart is actually starting new employees off at $21. / hr. here in Central Il. What this says to me is they always had that kind of money, and that they're now smart enoguh to come up off a little of it.

I doubt if it'll happen but Kroger needs to follow suit. They're the stingy-est damn retailer in the game.

 Decatur??

If so, Decatur was once a thriving city in the 1950s and 1960s. But no more............with outsourcing of manufacturing to foreign countries, less good jobs, increasing crime, it's a sad story.

In reality, if you looked at retail in general you can figure out really quickly why some retailers are able to play higher wages.  Walmart and all the big retailers do not make their $$$ on foods, its on all the non-food goods.  Walk into a Walmart and or Target, you will see 1/2 Non-Foods items being one of their brands, this is where they make the $$$.  If a retailers is basically the one getting the items manufactured and also sell it, they can lower prices on these types of items and also make more $$$.  People making statements that companies should pay employees $2-$5 more an hours should do the math and see that would basically cause the company to make no $$$ year, which then would cause more store closings and eventually the company to go out of business.  People can't have low prices, high wages and not any other backlashes.

Yes, people should make a living wages.  What needs to be looked into is, not just wages, but in reality why things changes from 40-50 years ago till now! Remember there used to only be Millionaires, now there are Billionaires, remember wealth at times is transfer from one person to one person, or many people to one person now.

It's not just us either...Almost every single bar and restaurant out there has a "Now Hiring" sign or "Up to $15 an hour"...And I seem to recall, in the days before this pandemic, people laughing that those kids who work at McDonald's are just fooling themselves if they think ANY restaurant job is gonna pay them THAT much! Oh, how times have changed and everyone's gone begging for good help these days, and that's IF they can find it...Some businesses are bending over backwards to lure new workers in by offering incentives like paid tuition, better benefits, etc....Still, others have resorted to having their white collar people do the blue collar jobs...Other retailers and even the drugstores are having "staffing issues" and instead of paying their people more, they are just closing up earlier in the day...That's how STINGY they are with their money...They'd rather close up than pay their people just a little more...These are the kinds of things that are happening...And yet, we wonder why the world is as f'd up as it is...Crazy, eh???
