Our contract has expired.

The two bargaining teams are expressing their concerns to each other. Soon the union will tell us to vote to authorize a strike, then tell us to vote for the new contract. We will get the right to lubricate ourselves or something and the damned company will violate the contract at will. And you better not get caught snitching. I'm getting a real job soon and I am plenty ashamed of having worked for these creeps.

You'll learn every contract that it takes them 6+ months to negotiate. Mean while you're without a contract. Company by union law is to honor last contract rules until new one is updated.

In reality all the union locals should get together and not short change each other. Other than local reps. to assist with issues the local leadership is useless. The local presidents are only there to promote the union and smile for their checks. Look to see how many people are apart of your local, multiple the weekly dues by the number of members, x 52.... where does that money really go?
