I filed a complaint thru the Union and to make a long story short the manager in question was "coached"-is that the same as an hourly employee coaching? Does something like this go on their employment record?

Us managers dont get in trouble for many things. Especially scolding and demeaning lazy low level grunts. That manager you snitched on will know it was you and will not get retaliation against you. Remember you brought that on yourself.
Its all talk. Short of murder or theft, managers are allowed to do whatever they want and corporate supports it.
Exactly right. Unless you're a female minority missing limbs and are of alpahbet soup sexuality filing a 100 mil $$ class action suit against em, you aint got SHEEEEEEIT to defend yourself.
Them managers will hate each others guys but still back each other up, I've seen it countless times. And the corporate 'Open Door' and Whistle Blower policies? All that does is paint a target on you.

F u c k retail. Get a new game.
One other thing---only time you see a manager get in trouble is when they've been cast from the cult. Somebody on high flat out doesn't like em. Seen that too, it's interesting to watch. All of a sudden one of the Mt. Olympian Gods is on the struggle, just like a regular floor grunt...........til the higher ups get bored with toying with em and just term em. They'll be tryna appeal to the slave crew and gain support, and we're all like 'how it feel, dawg' LOL
Coached can mean many things now, depending on the grievance and situation it could mean the manager was written up, or had a conversation on something. Oh, it could just mean, HR gave into your grievance and the conclusion was the manager was going to get retrained on something.
