I've worked for Kroger for over 30 years and we have never closed early on Easter.  That is until this year.  We're closing at 5:00 PM today.

I'm off on the weekends but my phone was blowing up constantly with calls to come in today. I had to put a temporary block on my phone just to type this.
They wouldnt be hurting so much if they hired more people rather than just rely on the minimal help we have.

Stories like this confirm a theory I've had for awhile: it's not just this new culture of people not wanting to work....it's companies realizing how much more $$ they've made with less staff and NOT WANTING TO HIRE ANYONE.

And when you confront higher-ups with this (which I have) they fall back on the tired-ass 'Covid wiped us out, we don't have it in the budget! Covid! Covid! Covid's responsible for everything, don't blame us!!'

I am sure he did not mute them because he did not want to work. He has been with the Company a long time and he deserves the weekend off.

If I was still there I would also want off on weekends. The young kids can have the weekend.
