In 2021, there's a customer in a wheel chair that comes in to shop-usually buying a cart load of items. While I was working in the aisle, he will come to my aisle, stares at me, and once put his hand on my pocket claiming there's something on your pants (um, my apron and my chap stick)...his helper that comes with him (not an cna or nurse) does nothing but stands still. The customer in wheel chair has frequently complaint about me not helping a customer with disability. I'm not his personal shopper, not his friend, not his neighbor, I don't know him and my family does not know him.
He has multiple times occupied a space for 4 hours just he wanted me to help me as I was working.
Now I'm a cashier, he waits with long patience to be ringed up by me. Starring, too. Took a pictures of me on his mobile phone. Gets ringed up by me with few items. There's time where he said he did not wanted the items, just wanted to get to the line.
He asked me to help pull his card out out of his wallet when really, it's his buddy behind him that should helping him.
We are not to discriminate, however, I do feel equal treatment so applies...such as harassment.
Inform your manager. File an ethics report. Yes I've gotten a couple harassers banned before. If they buy liquor ask fortheir id and make note of their name on the license. Most people are quick readers so for me it would just take a 10 second glance. Write it down after they leave and file a pd report for stalking and harassment. If they write a check after they leave write down the name from the check. Don't take it out of the till but read the name on it and write it down. If it's too generic of a name make note of the address too. If you get joe dane, I mean that's too generic.
