Hi so Im updating my previous post. I work in the pharmacy and the pharmacy manager has since moved from putting cell phones in a basket to putting them in a divider. Is it within company policy to make us do this? How can I stand my ground?
Why don't you just tell them you don't have a cell phone? As long as you don't use it while on the clock, it shouldn't matter where it's kept.
Yeah. Just put your phone on vibe and keep it in your pocket. Check for calls/texts whilst on break or quick trips to the bathroom. As long as your phone is kept out of site then being as it's none of their business if you have one, it should be fine.
As for me, I'm not putting my phone in lockers, baskets, dividers, etc.

I worked a medical job and yes in confidential areas with patient records it isn't uncommon to forbid cell phones in such areas. If you don't want to turn it into the divider leave it locked in your locker. Some companies are more strict about phones than others. The grocery side they could care less. Pharmacy is under a different contract.

I work in a hospital and have direct pt. contact. We signed all the HIPPA acknowledgements. We all carry our phones. Nobody cares as long as we're not caught on it constantly or recording / posting things re. the patients /confidentiality.
