Our deli service counter opens at 8am. One day last week, a customer walks up at 7:45, I said "good morning we open at 8am". She responds with "the store is open so you're open". She just wanted one thing so I went ahead and took care to avoid a complaint. Several years ago I was closing one night and the deli I was at closed at 10. A customer walked up at 10:10 and I told her we were closed. She complained to a co manager and the co manager made me wait on her. The manager told me "you are never allowed to tell a customer you are closed". Well I was scheduled off at 10 so of course they wanted to know why didn't clock out on time lol. It seems like you just can't win sometimes.
Ain't that the truth. When I was scheduled at closing time we had to keep the store open an extra HOUR because of two people and the next day I got yelled at by the manager because I didn't harass them in to leaving earlier... like I can force them to shop faster. You really just can't win sometimes.
