The fast changing face of retail and why yall need to look for a new job NOW

Ever escalating crime on location at brick at in-house stores

Ever escalating shop lifting at same

Ever escalating reliance on ON LINE ORDERING (that's not only not going away, it's gonna ramp up)

Ever DECREASING need for specialty things like butchers, cake decorators, deli prep workers, floral dept. staff, etc.

In house stores aren't likely going away in our lifetime, but it's going to be a very different picture---and very soon. The plan-demic alone showed coporate america how little pay roll they could squeeze by on and maximize their profits. You think they're gonna reverse that thinking---or stomp the pedal?

Just sayin'. Now's a real good time to update that resume and look into some specialized education (doesn't have to be college---in fact, prolly better it it's a tech trade).

I wish it were as simple as that but it is not. Most of us are jurnyman pay and we earn about 20-25% higher than most other jobs in the area. Even with starting jobs that require bachelor degrees. Those of us in our mid 40's can't take 4 yrs off for school then return. What 5 yrs in a new field earning less than what I did before? Not worth it.

Jurnyman yes you can go back to school. And yes there are places with easier work that pay better.

Yup looking for new job at new company. Management expects everyone to help shrink theft, but they're busy. And we're busy on the salesfloor meeting customers expectation.
