Due to the company failing to keep staff on I am going back to part time. Full time at 6+ days a week just to get 40 hrs sucks. I'm so exhausted on my days off I can't even enjoy my days off. My first day off is just recovering from the work week. To exhausted do do anything even house work and play with the family. So exhausted I'm moody as hell the first day odd. Second day off is all the chores. The longer this grind goes the worse it feels. My days off are not always back to back and it gets exhausting. I'm going back to 3-4 days a week off even if it means hour reduction. This is a health insurance job so I don't care about full time. This is a job not a career. The only rewards are:
No good deed goes unpunished. 100% true in kroger. apparently everything is the employee's fault even when it's 100% not.
Total exhaustion and being miserable all the time. Few long term people in this line of work remain happy campers until retirement. I don't want to end up like them. Kroger jyrny man pay is 20% higher than most other jobs in my area.
It's a common problem in all industries. At this point I don't know how much it's public work apathy or deliberate labor force reduction; I think it's both.
But it doesn't matter, cuz the end effect is the same: even the hardest working, most dedicated staff everywhere is burnt tf out. I'm seeing even mid-level management falling into this as they have to shoulder the burden.
Yea, man. Step. Take care of yourself first. This whole cultural disaster we're experiencing will level out eventually...but we don't need to ride-or-die waiting til it does.
Lots of things are the fault of the associate. if they didnt spend all their time with their phone in their face, taking 22 smoke breaks, 15 minute bathroom breaks or chase the privates then things would get done.
I'm stepping down back to p.t. because I can't mentally keep doing 6 days. It sucks @$$. People get miserable, grumpy and the daily grind gets old. I do this job for health insurance. Customers are stupid heads that don't treat grocery clerks very highly. I told them I don't want more hours than what is needed for health insurance and yet they're abusing me as an employee and pushing that border line. School is more important. My mental health is more important. This company doesn't get it.

And they never will. But thank your lucky phuck you don't work at Wal-Mart.

Former WM inmate #1177 (my employee number) for 15 years. Have to agree. That place sucks butt nuts.
Actually, all of non salaried retail /restaurant service jobs suck monkey nuts. It's all demeaning, soul-crunching servitude designed to break you as a human being.
After a couple weeks of nothing but full 8 hr shifts to select from. This is exhausting. My body can not handle this work full time any more. I have a few repetitive long-term injuries that get flared up with this job (caused by this job) that I can't do full time. Work was complaining about not having enough staff but by playing with the hours and reducing them they're going have even less staff with those of us that are not willing to do full 8 hr shifts * 5 a week = 40 hr works. Not all of us want full time. They don't understand that. They're going back to working staff to exhaustion. Now that it's guaranteed again to have a solid 32 hrs a week reliably I've updated my esced availability to have 3 days a week off back to back instead of being split up through out the week.
This company sucks @$$ and it is not worth full time even at jrnyman pay. Instead of getting me 5-6 days a week at reduced shifts now they only get me 4 days a week. They're only hurting their staffing by forcing full time on employees.
