All jobs do really, but retail's at the top of the dung heap.

I've read pretty much all the arguments for staying: long term union employee, can't beat the money, easy work, decent benefits, yada yada. All I can say is, if you're really hip deep into Kroger and it's working for you, then of course stay.

But. If anything in you wants seriously to leave.....you can. Don't for one minute ever doubt that. I was at Walmart for 15 years, was miserable every one of those, and no way Ida left on my own----it took drawing a sadistic manager who had it in for me to fire me before I got what I've since considdred to be my parole.

And life has been nothing but SWEET ever since! People always say that after being sht canned, but I swear before God, in my case it's the truth. You don't even know what other possibilities and opportunities there are out there, and how vast your aptitude to do them, until you've had all other choices stripped away.

Yea. Retail SUCKS. Find you a golden parachute and bail the fk OUTTA it biggrin

OP here.

Yes, it is hard to find anything decent and start new---especially with all the qualifications you need now to do that. Gone are the days of wandering into a factory, making big bucks and doing that til you retire at an old age.

BUT, the good news is, the push for college has dramatically taken a back seat, and the push now is on tech and trade skills learning. Lots of non college schools for that. Things like:

CNA (actually pays pretty good now)

Dental assistant

Ortho tech

Physical therapy aide

Machinist apprintice

Plumbers / pipefitters apprentice

Facory laborer (don't need any schooling, companies like ADM, Caterpillar and Mueller hire you fresh and pay you a lot)

These are but some. AND, there's govt $$ assistance offices in virtually every town on the country now, cuz rhe need for workers is so bad.

Give it a look! What you got to lose? ---But everything to gain!

Retail corners most, if not all of the job market. Even those with igh end college/university diplomas sometimes find themselves working retail.
I have a brother who got his degree to work in computers, making software and whatnot. Well, he couldnt find a job that was.hiring EVEN THOUGH he had a degree. He had no choice but to work retail. He works for Safeway as a PIC.

Not true. You just get believing that once you've been brain trained in it long enough. Kinda like being a drug addict that way, it filters the way you see everything.

In say it again: if you really want out, you can be. But that's the question. How bad do you want it? I've known people who discovered wonderful opportunities.....but refused to even try cuz they didn't wanna sacrifice anything at all. They were willing to perpetuate their misery (and that of everyone around them having to hear it) rather than change one iota in their precious routines.

Even tho everything in their work lives sucked monkey balls.confuse

Any way, yea. You can do better that that sht. It's your choice.
