I do highly appreciate customers that assist in bagging their large orders rather than grumbling why it takes so long.
I unfortunately can't tell you how many customers can not bag a bag of groceries.
I can't tell you how many times customers try to assist us but in reality they're actually making more work for us and thus it would of been better if you didn't help at all.
Please stop telling us how to do our jobs down to the tiniest detail. I get several of these customer types a day and it gets old as heck. Do you realize how insulting it is to tell a cashier with 15+ yrs under their belt how to do their f'n job? Please don't treat us like we're some dumb @$$.
I go through u-scan all the time now because the one time I went through a regular lane I ended up with 10 bags when 4 would have been enough. Some of them had maybe 3 or 4 small items in them. Also, people might like their groceries bagged a certain way for various reasons. Keeping refrigerated and frozen items together is obvious, but there are other reasons. I like to sort things according to which cabinet I put them in. I might also be making a specific recipe and might want to keep all the ingredients together. Another reason is I might be shopping for both myself and somebody else and might want to keep their items separate from mine.
I prefer bagging my own groceries if possible. But if employees want to bag I have no problem, but I WILL help. And please don't act like I am in the way, or I WILL deliberately get in the way. By acting like I'm "in the way" means eye rolling and huffing. Stepping aside and helping bag doesnt bother me, but having an attitude about having extra help on a large order does..
I used to work in the front end before transferring to the fuel center. I used to ask customers from time to time if they "have clocked in" and pointed to the Kronos pad-they got a good laugh out of it!
