You have no authority to refuse alcohol sells. Thats grounds for termination. you should be fired and pay a fine.
Safety comes first. I WILL NOT be held responsable for inadertly killing someone if I knowingly sell them alcohol whilst they are visibly drunk. If they want to buy it when sober, fine not a problem. If you want to get drunk then get behind the wheel then that's on you.
We can be fired and terminated if we sell to a drunken customer and possibly face jail time. I'm not sorry but not doing that just because some drunk idiot wants his alchohol.

Wrong! Cashiers are able to refuse sale of alcohol to underage and/or intoxicated people. Not refusing sale of alcohol would result in termination of employment, fines, etc, etc, etc.

Somehow I don't believe you since it's STATE LAW. Now I know that there might be some variations state-to-state, but the basic law still applies. And I have seen management, yes MANAGEMENT, tell the person that if the sale is refused, it's refused.
Not in the Local 1996 area! I have asked several managers and they said we have to sell to them as we are not law enforcement and can't make the determination if customers are intox or not
Nobody gonna deny me my alcohol. If you try expect a trip to the hospital!
If you're already a few sheets to the wind and want be a few more then expect a trip to the morgue. Hopefully no one else will be involved in the wreck you'll create on the road. One less drunk-off-their-ass douche to deal with. Just don't expect the store I work at to allow alcohol sales for you.
