It's been crazy AF. I volunteered to work FOUR hours only (6am-10am) at a store that's open and they "accidently" scheduled me a 6am-1pm. Well, I'm sure they'll be ok after I leave at 10am.

lol, I know that's right!
Abuse of power like that is part of why people 'don't wanna work' any more. All you hear is how spoilt and lazy people are; never about how management keeps running off the few good ones left.

Happy holidays, MK
I've been there over 30 years and I'm ready to walk out. Every time I've asked for a day off that wasn't vacation time, it's been refused. I asked off for the day after Christmas and it got denied. I'm not going to show up that day. When I go in tomorrow, it just might be my last day. I'm just fed up.
Bakery department here. We had two full time people, including myself, and two part time people who only worked fours each. One person didn't come in because of the roads. One was scheduled off. Another one says he won't work weekends, and he's only been there six months. So we baked bread and took care of any cake orders. Luckily, the entire frozen order got scratched. We were doing pretty good until the store manager butted in and asked if we had done artisan bread. Now artisan bread only gets one day shelf life as whole loaves. The next day it gets sliced. The following day it gets thrown out. Well, we close at 5:00 on Christmas Eve and we're closed on Christmas Day. So any artisan bread we bake would have to sell today by 5:00. Otherwise, it's going in the garbage. It was also the bakery manager's decision not to do artisan bread today because past experience has shown that it's a waste of time and product. Our district manager and therefore our store manager has made the artisan bread a priority even though sales are meager at best.
They have been trying for years to make our store a high end store. They expanded several years ago and were expecting two million in sales. Sales ususlly run between 1.2 and 1.5 million in sales. The thing is we don't have the type of customer that shops at high end stores. Our customers consist of retirees and your typical middle class family with kids in school, a dog, and a mortgage.

You as well. And yesterday we had 20+ orders in our clicklist/dug dept. Thankfully we had 2 other people working it as well. Usually, I just run the dept by myself, and on a slow day or before holidays it was easy to do as we didnt have tons of orders dropping all day.
