I've never cashiered before. I'm doing ok except I keep forgetting what to do if the customer pays with cash, credit card and gift card or with just cash and a credit card? Any other tips would also be appreciated
They'll train you on how to use the terminal interface but that's it. One 8 hr class. The rest is figure it out your self and hopefully you'll learn the policies and procedures to keep you in the green zone with management. This is something you figure out your self.

Have a small notebook to take notes. It's why I did ~you will improve within 1 month.
For credit card or gift card= press the EFT payment.
For Cash=press the cash, you enter the amount the customer give you cash, the monitor will calculate the change.
For Checks = press personal check, enter the amount written on the check. Make sure the customers write neatly so you could see clearly and the backroom could read...because customers be lying saying we stole that (amount of $) from them.
