Perishable trucks in the afternoon now?

I work in the Atlanta division, and wouldnt you know one email on Friday said our delivery window was changing effective on Sunday. Now instead of our trucks getting here between 4-6, weve been getting them anywhere from 2pm to 6pm.

Apparently this is to force us to have more primetime scheduling which makes little sense. Lets make sure they are breaking down the truck during the busiest point of the day. Hopefully this is just temporary.

Anyone else have this going on?

They've done this as well where I work. The purpose, they said, is because with the holidays fast approaching, they want to make sure we are full and ready to go. OK, fine no problem. However with limited staffing, how the hell do they expect us to break down a load and help customers at the same time?

It's been that way in the Louisville Division for a couple months now.  We're still not used to it.  I work early mornings in the bakery department baking bread.  I also get the bakery's frozen order.  Since I'm gone by 1:00 PM, the order has to sit back in the grocery freezer until the next day.  Now, when we order stuff, we have to remember that it won't be brought up until two days later.  So you have to plan two days ahead.  We also don't get an order on Wednesday afternoons.  So there's no order to retrieve on Thursday morning.  That means on Mondays, when we order, we  have to make sure we have enough product to get us through the next three days.  As far as I know, the frozen food department is still working their regular overnight schedule.  Someone loads the order into the freezer in the afternoon when it arrives and then the frozen crew sorts it and works it that night.

You would literally have to be one delivery ahead in your ordering, it would take a 6-8 periods for the over/under delivery to correct itself. Stores that are large volume sometimes get them from 8pm onward and have one or two overnight pw\eople work it...

Oh no associates actually have to work for a change.

It makes perfect sense.

Much like everything else, it's change for the sole purpose of change.

Invented out of desperation 10 minutes before a meeting by someone who has never worked in a grocery store and has their groceries delivered by Whole Foods.

If there's anything customers love, it's inflation extortion prices and aisles blocked off by pallets and uboats in the middle of the day.
