Grand re-openings are even dumber. A grand re-opening should only occur after there's been a fire, a flood, or some other natural disaster that forces a store to close. Yet we're having another grand re-opening on Thursday and the store has been open the entire time. I've been through at least five of them since I started working there. All they've done is make the aisles longer and moved things around. The worst part is all these people from corporate have been coming in for the past few days to "help out. You wouldn't believe all the stuff they're having us make in the bakery. It's like three times what we usually make and it's all going to go to waste. Those people are just in the way and I'm not alone when I say they need to go away. The dumbest part is the store opens at 6 AM but they're going to have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 AM. I don't think they realize what a joke the whole thing is. The one good thing is I'm off that day.
Yea. Did they transfer you any mysterious new managers? Sometimes you get violent weirdos helping out. Didn't come from anywhere, and the people in the old store are supposed to imagine the bastard was fired.
One of our "(not so) Grand-Reopenings/remodel" was they switched out our old store tile with...wait for it....new tile of the SAME kind, gave us "new checkstand" areas, and make the backroom slightly "bigger." They called it a "remodel/(not-so) Grand-Reopening" got everyone hyped up prior to doing said reopening.
When asked when they would officially do it, we got a blank stare and bluntly told "we did it already."
