Being as we never got a clicklist schedule on when the dept officially shuts down this Thanksgiving, my manager decided to "shut down" at around eleven.Being as we will be super busy any orders that go into the computer later than eleven will be canceled and marked out of stock.
We open at around 5am so we can get started shopping for online asap.
Imo it's no different than any other dept, if you do not have the staff to run it, then you shut it down early.
If you want your OM to tear you to pieces go right ahead. Nobody at store level, including management can shut your dept down or decide upon the hours. Orders will still show up EVEN IF you shut down your computer completely. If you out of stock items, not only is it a money loss for the store, but the info gets sent backstage and all of a sudden corporate will wonder "hey, wait a minute! How come 20+orders are all out of stock and canceled? We KNOW they have the product...what's going on?!?"
Then corporate will send the OM down to see what happened and why it happened and DM may pay a visit. It will NOT end well.
Your best and ONLY choice is to get ahold of your OM or DM and ASK when the dept shuts down.

Its fine to shut it down. Literally had no help and orders were just backed up. Manager came in finally and said okay Ill be stopping the orders.
Our clicklist shut itself down at noon on Thanksgiving. After that no orders dropped. All we had to do was wait for any pick-ups. Today, we have 3 pick-ups from yesterday. Hopefully they show up, but if not, then the orders will go back to the shelf.
