I've been here 18 yrs and I am so sick of this company. Never before have I gotten to a point here I have absolutely zero respect for my employer. It is definitely time to move onto another line of work. Kroger does not care about you as an individual. Does not have career growth and will hold you back on top of it. You have to fight for every damn right you have. Now with holidays over they're not even offering livable paychecks. If I have to go back to two part time jobs again to make ends meet it be time to move on. I've worked other jobs that offer $30/hr+ and only recently have you given us more than $25/hr. I have no respect for you any more kroger none. Absolutely none!
The problem started around 15 years ago when they implemented Key Retailing and started micromanaging everything. You could no longer run your department the way you saw fit to make it profitable. You had to do it the Key Retailing way. Decision making was taken away from department heads. It's all about doing scans now. The idiots from corporate think if you do enough scans, your department will run perfectly. The only problem is by the time you do all the scans, you don't have time to do the actual work.
The time to move on is very ripe now. Shop for good companies, and don't feel you need to settle. Events can screw up the labor market quickly and Kroger will be right there on the leading edge of everything bad that can happen at work. It is what they do.
And for goodness'sake, if you are looking for a company worth shopping at or working for. - keep looking!

Youre not going anywhere especially after 18 Years. youre just another kroger lifer.
