I was talking to a co-worker and they told me that their getting screwed on their vacation. They are allowed to take it when they want. The kicker is that they take it and not get paid for it or work on their vacation so they can be paid. Wouldn't this violate some rules in the contract and just in general cause them to be singled out for no reason? Can they take action against this?
How long was the co-worker there for? Usually don't they have to be employed for about a year or so before they take their paid vacation?
Or, we're they paid out already and want to take an extra unpaid vacation? This raisesnso many questions. If you are a union store, I suggest you have your co-worker reach out to their union rep

They've been there for more than a year and it wasn't an extra vacation. It was our department heads that approached them with this ultimatum. And yes we are a union store. And the co-worker talked to management to get things straightened out.
That's good. It sounds like the depth heads tried to get the employee to forgo their vacation because said dept heads didn't want to do thr work themselves.
Happens at our store sometimes. I worked clicklist and they try and force me to forgo my vacation because the backup clicklist employees don't want to do the work themselves. I still go on my vacations as planed though

I can't believe some of the things managers and department heads try to get away with at some stores. We have one cake decorator in the bakery department. You what happens when she goes on vacation? We don't take cake orders. We also have only one baker. You know what happens when he goes on vacation? There's no bread. People get mad when they find out there's no fresh baked bread or rolls. That's not our problem though. Staffing has been cut down to practically nothing. That's Kroger's fault. At one time we had four cake decorators and three bakers. When I go on vacation, I don't care if the department is shorthanded. That's just the way you got to be.
