An associate told me this afternoon I was written up by our new department lead for something that happened 4 days ago. He was off the past 3 days so I was just told today. Aren't you supposed to receive something to sign if you get written up(SIR)?
Something doesn't add up here. You said that you were told that you were written up for an incident that occurred 4 days earlier. And that your department lead.was off for three days starting the day after the incident happened. The question is why weren't you talked to about the incident on the day it happened? Why wait so many days later and why didn't your lead tell.you?
I don't know that I was. The lead was just ranting. Those are my questions. I hadn't heard anything about it. The guy who told me,not the lead(my mistake)had been off the past 3 days. Shouldn't the lead or a manager have told me and made me sign something before now?

Yes, they should have. If I were you I would talk to your lead to get things straightened out.
