Is an employee required to stay at the store during an unpaid lunch break? (clocked out)
No. Lunch is your time. As long as you are back on time from lunch they have no say so.
Breaks however, you should stay on the premises. (On store property, or in the same lot. Usually Breaks are 10 min or so, so there's not much you can do during that time.
I always leave during my lunch so I don't hear calls over the vocally or the phone ringing to alert me to a clicklist pick up to deliver.
Also check your contracts for the words uninterrupted break. That way if you get interrupted, you can argue that you technically need to restart the clock.

I usually ignore all calls. Unless it is a bona-fide emergency, they can handle it themselves.
But yes, I'd I do get interrupted then I start my break all over from the beginning. EVEN IF I only have 2 min left.
They have virtually stopped calling me on my breaks
Honestly with as much time as these people spend on their phone during COMPANY time they shouldnt get breaks. Other than to use the restroom but who are we kidding there.. 69% of associates stink.
Yes lunch is not paid company time. This is standards across the business world. Your two ten min breaks are paid.
Yall got 10 minutes breaks??? I thought everyone get 15??
Originally it was 15 min. But then they decided to reduce it to 10 min. When asked why they gave an answer that did not pertain to the question at all.

I bet everyone still takes 15 though.
That we do. With with all the crap we have to out up with we deserve and need it.
And be prepared to keep working (off the clock), just in case you are needed. The team! This damn company will never learn. These are the sort of people that kept slaves in murderously harsh conditions in the old days. Just for fun.
