Someone's relative passed away and the employee did not documents for an leave. When an associate's relative passes away, HR demands me to fill out documents. So do we really to fill out documentations? Nobody is delivery an baby.

There's an teenager at the time, claimed his step grandma passed away. The kid lied just to go sleep with an girlfriend. HR did not questioned him.

Just how much leave are you talking about here?  If it's just the normal time allowed by the contract, then there's nothing you have to do.  Some managers might require you to bring in one those prayer cards you get at the funeral home, especially if the funeral is out of town.  I took off a week when my mother passed and I didn't have to fill out any paperwork. Maybe if you want to take off a month maybe you might have to fill something out, but not for just a few days.

Your HR is full of it.  It's not like what you see on tv.  It takes a couple weeks after the person passes to receive the death certificates.  Why are you asking your HR anyway?  I've never asked my HR for time off, and I've had to attend several funerals during my time at Kroger.  Whenever I needed time off for a funeral, I simply told my department manager.  Afterall, she's the one that has to adjust the schedule.  If your HR persists, file a grievance.

Kroger is pretty lax on this sort of thing. My family doesn't do funerals we just do a wake and we just took the 3 days paid bereavement leave. Life happens, kroger is pretty understanding on this. Heck I've worked companies before that make you sign the book registry for attendance then take a picture of it and a copy of the death certificate. I'm sorry but companies that do that are shi---t heads. I'm so  glad kroger doesn't do that.

If you feel you are getting unequal treatment please report this to your manager or ethics report site.

I took a week off when both my parents passed away.  Nobody questioned it.  I think you need more than three days if it's a parent, spouse, or child.  For a spouse or child it should be as much time as you need.  For parents, you need the extra time to tie up all the loose ends: utilities, assets, bills, going to court to file the will, etc.

My condolences on your passed family member.

When you get back from the funeral, be sure to provide them proof. Like a pamphlet from whatever religion that provided the funeral. Also the obituary (if you have one) as extra proof, but the funeral pamphlet should be enough.
