I have been an ADL for two years (been with Kroger a total of six). I have heard twice now that a store that is closer to me wanted me to come work in that store as a department manager, but my current manager denied the promotion. All parties know that I am looking to move up within Kroger and leave my current store (I have even told my current manager this). I have thought of quitting, then reapplying to the store that wants me as a dept manager, but I am fearful the regional manager will deny my employment in retaliation, then I am left without a job at all. Thoughts?
If your store manager is actively preventing you from taking advantage of a promotion, then it's time to get the union involved. If you're qualified and you can do the work and there's no one else with more seniority who wants the job, then they have to let you have it.
