Anyone else think your fellow coworker was hard worker then when you get around them and see their every move you realize they're only "acting" the part? I know in union jobs that's sort of what you get. If it's not in his job description he won't do it. He has a few reasonable accommodations but he does not realize they are actually holding him back in allowing him to do other job duties other shift slots. He's routinely late, spends more time talking on his phone but does focus on work when he puts his mind to it. He is very good at stalking but there's a ton more to do and he has zero clue how to do them. He does his one duty very well and I mean very well but when you have an employee only do one duty and there's like 50 more to do that just means you pick up the slack. Coworkers like this can be a bit of a burden to work with.

I think he's smart.  Unless you want to move up, don't learn anything beyond what your job requires , because if you do, you'll be expected to do it all the time.  I've worked for Kroger for over 30 years and I've never learned how to tie a bale.

lol.  Changing the bale is my all time favorite task in the whole building.

Yup, a coworker with 25 years says, "The less you know, the better."

I try to use my coworkers strengths to get the job done.  If all he does well is stock, I would have him stocking like a machine.  Good luck with figuring out how to balance the workload.
