I keep having issues with our lead trying to muck about and constantly change the schedule. Approved days off all of a sudden were no longer "guaranteed" even after approval and a mock schedule written then published to esced. If it is not approved in esced you do NOT have to feel obligated to work it. After much arguing I gave up and had a nice long talk to management and gave the union rep a knowledge call check. This is CORRECT.
The lead does have some say in adding shfits but they can not: Continuously change, shuffle and rewrite the schedule even after it's been published. They can not take away approved dates with scribbled in shifts. They can not force request you to give up approved vacation requests even if you're stay-cationing. If you are having this issue to reach out to your union rep. You are allowed vacation and pto. You have free will to not be forced to work shifts you did not agree to.
They must also acknowledge a schedule restriction/availablity is a must listen to not a suggestion. If you are having this issue too contact your union rep. We all have lives outside of work we are not slaves and required to spend 100% of our time at work. Life is short remember to live it. It is not required to spend all of it at work. Unless you are so financially impoverished you have to. Life is met to be lived and enjoyed not spent toiling away working to pay the bills. If you are living paycheck to paycheck it might be time to reconsider your employment options. Don't feel like you are tied to the job. Someone who has been working for 30 yrs please consider to live life while trying to have a proper work life balance.
