He declared a medical flair up on a pre existing condition. Which is swell and legally they are to work with you until you get back to normal. However, you've had 16 weeks off work. If you are that disabled you want to reconsider your future employment history. If you knew you were not coming back you should of made that clear instead of pushing out the problem longer. You frustrated your working coworkers by generating a gap and put your work burden on them. So thanks a bunch. You should of gone to a real dr not a natural path. I hate to say it but I've noticed a few things working 4 decades:
The true colors of a person always show after a while when working. You people always start off good standing but after a year or so the true colors start popping through with how people really behave in an employment. This never fails.
The one thing that sucks about this country is if you have a life long on-going health condition that flairs up like diabetes or nerve issues, it just means when you have bad flair ups it puts you out of work. I have a few cousins that go through this so I get it. You're going to have to rethink a career that will work with you. If you are for ever disabled from lifting <25 lbs then you need to take that into account. Grocery is not the best line of work for people with high food allergies. There's always that risk. Your food restriction actually heavily limited you to one job duty in the department and eliminated many could be positions for you around the store.
Your co worker may still have a case if they decide to pursue it thru the Union. Possible ADA violations to start. Not saying your co worker would do this but it looks to be an option from what you have said
