I had a customer who was on her phone the entire time during her transaction, including after she paid. So I bagged her groceries in plastic, but she got pissy and said that she wanted paper. So how do you deal with customers like this, especially when they are still on their phone after paying?

tl;dr: title. I work at a Kroger near Nashville and have been since last year. As a mixed clerk, I put every ounce of effort I possibly can into ensuring that the customer's experience is as smooth and efficient as possible. And do they say hello to you back? I noticed that when I'm on register, 50% of customers don't say hello or acknowledge my existence when I say hello to them. But when a supervisor or manager is on the register, ALL the customers say hello to them.
