Is there a more efficient way to print bulk tags?
(Preview)
Tagging a shelf full of items manually seems needlessly tedious. Scan an item, change your grip on the RF scanner so you can use the keypad, control-t (short pause) control-t 1, shift your grip back to use the trigger. If I know an entire shelf needs tagged (thank you valentine candy) and don't care a...

Paczki doughnuts
(Preview)
The pre-packaged Paczki doughnuts in the plastic containers that we got in for Mardi Gras are absolutely horrible. They're not even worth buying them at half price. Don't waste your money. Now the ones we used to get that came in bulk and have to be boxed up in those red and white boxes are actually pr...

They Prefer People Who Call In Sick
(Preview)
I've worked in Produce for two years. I have never called in sick once, have always got someone to cover or excused absences if needed (they schedule me against my availability, and I go to college). I have never just "called in," and have always helped out when needed. Yesterday, I worked for 11 hours b...

Calling out sick
(Preview)
Why are managers so uncaring when you try to call in sick? I say try because I just tried to, because I am definitely sick, and the manager just had this unforgiving combative attitude right from the start and told me to take some medicine and come to work on time.

Anyone else's managers put up a sign like that? Half these stickers don't even work. And all the bags of grapes aren't in the system.

Any former Walmart managers switching to the Kroger team yet?
(Preview)
Walmart just underwent the first phase of some major upheavals in their management team----they just laid off 3,500 of their shift managers. It's been a real blood game. A lot of these people had been with the company for many years, and are too old to realistically start new and too young to cash out an...

Do you find it strange when customers say that this other grocery store (whole foods for example) is selling the same item for less, so they want the item for that price? That is why there are so many grocery stores, they have the same items for different prices, you pick the one that you like the most pro...

I've worked for Smith's since it was family owned and not part of Kroger. Things have changed but still remain the same. Always short staffed, skimp on supplies, equipment, maintenance. Now worse than ever since Kroger bought us out. Tremendous pressure on store level management, district staff a...

Our shrink numbers are too low in the bakery?
(Preview)
Apparently we were told that our shrink numbers are too low because we're not marking as much stuff down as they think we should. Does that make any sense to you? There are two opposing forces in the Kroger corporate office. The CAP people tell you to follow CAP to the letter and only put out what you ne...
